About Us

Creekside Leos is a Leonberger kennel located in Utah among the majestic Rocky Mountains. We are a member of the LCA (Leonberger Club of America) and are dedicated to breeding high-quality, healthy and good-tempered Leonbergers.

Our love for this magnificent breed started back in January of 2002 when our little family of five fell head-over-heels for our first Leo pup, Tanzie. We had been searching for a gentle giant to be a loving protector for our three girls and we could not have asked for a more incredible dog. Tanzie remains well-known and loved among family and friends. She remained our sweet companion until the summer of 2011 when we lost her to pancreatic cancer.

 

In the spring of 2012 we welcomed the rambunctious Rue to our family. We knew with this new addition to our family that we were interested in joining the Leonberger breeding community. They're such wonderful, gentle, beautiful and unique dogs and we wanted to share them with others. Rue successfully carried and reared three healthy litters, and was a loving and attentive mother to each of them. The third of those litters was born Christmas of 2019 and we decided to keep one from that litter which was when Creekside's Christmas Chestnut "Chessie" joined our family. The mother-daughter duo brought so much happiness to our home. Sadly, we lost Rue in 2021 due to age related illness. Chessie has grown into a beautiful dog and has whelped two litters of her own.

In August of 2022 after the loss of our sweet Rue, we traveled across the border to Canada to pick up the newest addition to our program. Lowenhohle's Darling Gretel Our Liebchen "Gretel" joined our family. She has turned out to be one of our sweetest girls. She has a wonderful calm temperament, beautiful coloring, and comes from a wonderful bloodline. Gretel finished her health testing in June 2024 and whelped her first litter Christmas of 2024.

With over a decade of experience whelping and rearing Leonbergers, our love for this amazing breed has only grown. Our girls who were so beloved by our first Leo are all grown and blessed our family with a new generation of Leo lovers all their own. ​​​​​​

 

It is important to us that our puppies will be welcomed into homes as a new member of a loving family. Our puppies are well socialized, comfortable around people, raised to live inside of a home, and are used to lots of love. Our experience has been that Leos are people lovers, they always want to be with their families and do everything with them. They are very sweet and loyal dogs that will always be by your side and will never run out of love.
